What is EH4?

An EH4 token is issued only after the personal data and identity of the legal representative, the Authorisation Manager and the user have been verified. That involves identification via our app or a face-to-face meeting, at which original identity documents must be shown. An EH4 user logs in with a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificate. The combination of physical identity verification and PKI certificate login means that EH4 provides the highest level of assurance.

What can I use EH4 for?

A small number of municipal, provincial and national government services require EH4 login. This top level of assurance is also needed to apply for a patent or submit a clemency appeal, for example. Lodging an administrative appeal against the withdrawal or refusal of a gun permit or hunting licence depends on EH4 as well.

How do I request an EH4 token?

Before requesting an EH4 eHerkenning token from We-ID, you need to get a PKI Government certificate from Quovadis. Once you’ve got a certificate, you can request a token on the We-ID website. What does an EH4 token cost?

You can get a We-ID eHerkenning token on a one-year or three-year contract. On a one-year contract, an EH4 token costs €45. For three years, the price is €90. In other words, only €30 a year. There is also a one-off request processing charge of €25.
